Modernizing a science media outlet without starting from scratch

Global Climat is a science media outlet that's been online since 2013, hosted on WordPress. The challenge wasn't to rebuild everything, but to modernize the reading experience and search visibility without disrupting the existing editorial back office.

I kept WordPress as the content source, but in "headless" mode: the CMS no longer renders the pages, it only stores the articles, while a Next.js interface handles all the display. In practice, pages stay static and cached most of the time — so they're very fast — and only refresh on a scheduled revalidation. It's the best of both worlds: a CMS the team already knows, and the speed of a modern stack.

Result: a faster site, better structured for search engines, with no disruption to the editorial team's habits.
